Definition
Hodology means the study of pathways in the simplest definition of the term. When using the term Hodological spaces in architecture it is analysing the pathways within space and a building. Hodological space can be also be defined as studying different activities within a space and analysing the different paths that are within interspaces.
This week we applied the concept of Hodological space to our project. We understood how studying different paths can affect the operations of our building; especially a high rise building like the one we designed. It is important to understand and apply these concepts as this will maximise the efficiency and the effectiveness of the buildings operations considering it is a commercial tower where people move and interact a lot.
Studying Hodological space is very important especially when designing spaces and buildings; it is a critical step in ensuring maximum efficiency of any space designed which connects people with their starting point to their destinations or end point.
