Binding is with regards to affect and space. It is how a person is affected by a certain space. Binding can evoke emotions such as claustrophobia and agoraphobia in relation to spaces. Binding covers all aspects of space and how different people interact and are affected by space. Binding covers all kinds of spaces from natural environments, workplaces, schools, hospitals, shops and other places. Binding is important because it causes the initial responses of a person and how they feel about a particular space. Binding is also in relation to bound and unbound.
This week our group discussed these terminologies in relation to our model design. We understood what binding and bound/unbound meant and related it to our design. We understood that bound could be described as a space that feels tight and small and unbound is a space that feels open and wide- in relation to claustrophobia and agoraphobia.
